Indra Nooyi
Former Chairman & CEO, PepsiCo, Board Director, Author
Indra Nooyi is the former Chairman of PepsiCo’s Board of Directors and currently serves on the boards of Amazon and Schlumberger Limited. She is a member of the International Advisory Council of Temasek, an independent Director of the International Cricket Council, member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum and member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
In 2021, she published her NY Times best-selling auto-biography grounded in lived experience. My Life in Full is the story of this extraordinary leader’s life, a tribute to the relationships that created and sustained it, and a blueprint for 21st century prosperity.
She is now applying her leadership experience in new ways as Co-director of the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, helping to develop strategies for the state's economic growth, and as co-chair of AdvanceCT, a non-profit organization focused on improving business opportunities in Connecticut. In 2020, she joined a team of experts responsible for guiding the COVID-19 response for Connecticut.
From 2006 to 2018, she served as CEO of PepsiCo where she was the chief architect of Performance with Purpose, PepsiCo’s pledge to do what’s right for the business by being responsive to the needs of the world around us. During her tenure, PepsiCo grew net revenue more than 80%, and delivered total shareholder returns of 162% by making more nutritious products, limiting its environmental footprint, and by empowering its associates and people in the communities they serve.
She directed Pepsico’s global strategy for more than a decade and led restructuring and major M&A activities. Previously, Mrs. Nooyi worked in strategy for Asea Brown Boveri, Motorola and The Boston Consulting Group. She began her career in India with Johnson & Johnson and Mettur Beardsell, Ltd., a textile firm.
Mrs. Nooyi received many prizes, accolades and honorary degrees for her leadership and in 2007, the Government of India awarded her the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor.
She holds a B.S. from Madras Christian College, an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta, and a Master of Public and Private Management from Yale University. Mrs. Nooyi is married and has two daughters.
