John is passionate about the intersection of financial services, business models and client impact in facilitating financial health.
In 2021, he joined H&R Block as Financial Services Vice President (Products) bringing his extensive background in entrepreneurship, financial services, and product development, including tax refund and cash management products, to the company where he now leads new financial products development.
Immediately prior, John served as Senior VP at the Centre for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) - the nation's foremost authority on consumer financial health. With his cross-functional team of professionals, he generates CFSI’s industry thought leadership, consumer research and innovation pipeline to advance consumer financial health, and partner with companies to more profitably serve consumers with high-quality financial products.
John’s experience in financial services, taxation, technology, the humanities, and retail delivery has prepared him well to address the multi-dimensional business problems of the American public. He co-founded and led Advent Financial Services which created modern tax-time technologies to help tax preparers and taxpayers’ create viable long-term businesses, save taxpayers money, and set the tax industry on a path toward a stronger future.
John was a 2011/12 Aspen Institute First Movers Fellow. He earned a B.S. in Computer Science at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. Outside of work, he makes music and plays any sport he can find.
He lives in Kansas City with his wife and three children.
