Victor Penev
CEO Edamam, Serial Tech Entrepreneur, Investor, Foodie
Victor Penev is a serial tech entrepreneur and foodie. He is the founder and CEO of Edamam, a company that organizes all the nutritional knowledge in the world through a proprietary semantic knowledge base and a range of consumer and business applications. Many of the decisions people make about food are impeded by inaccurate or inadequate information. So, Edamam wants to change the way people eat by arming businesses and consumers with nutritional knowledge to make smarter decisions about food, combining Victor’s twin passions for food and technology.
Prior to Edamam, Victor co-founded and sold Bulgaria’s largest Internet Company, NetInfo BG. Victor also ran the international digital business of Playboy Enterprises, and was instrumental in starting the digital marketing efforts of BMG and in creating key e-commerce capability for Bertelsmann’s book clubs. He holds MBA from Stanford.
Victor is an avid traveler and cook. He would cook and eat anything and has been cooking almost every day for the last 25 years. He constantly tweaks recipes and experiments with new cooking methods. A personal passion is fermentation and all live-culture foods—Victor makes his own kombucha, kimchi and yogurt.
Victor is an investor in several food start-ups and digital platforms and also serves on the advisory board of a number of global ventures.
