Michael Brett is the Global Lead for Quantum Computing business development in the High Performance Computing group at Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he guides customers, researchers, and partners in exploring quantum computing solutions with Amazon Braket.
Previously, he was the co-founder & CEO of QxBranch which solves complex analytical problems using advanced data analytics and quantum computing for global finance, insurance and technology clients. The business was acquired by Rigetti Computing in 2019 after which Michael lead application development for clients.
Michael is an expert in complex systems. He brings extensive experience developing and accelerating the adoption of early-stage technologies and delivering projects in aerospace, defense, and data analytics. He has led projects in predictive risk analysis for hypersonic flight vehicles, the delivery of broadband satellite communications to Antarctica, helicopter training simulation and safety analysis for spacecraft.
Earlier in his career, he developed the award-winning tracking system for recreational skiers and snowboarders deployed to 15 major ski resorts in North America.
He began his professional life as a systems engineer developing mission planning software for the Australian Department of Defense.
Michael’s work has earned recognition as one of five global Young Space Leaders by the International Astronautical Federation in 2014, for an Australian Leadership Award in 2013, and one of the Most Inspiring Young Engineers by Engineers Australia. He has authored several technical publications in the field of probabilistic risk analysis and has been interviewed by news outlets such as Washington Post, Australian Financial Review, South China Morning Post, and ABC Science Online.
He holds an Executive Master of Business in Complex Project Management and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Avionics.
In his free time, Michael is an avid runner, cricket enthusiast
and snowboarder.
