A message from our CEO & Founder Terry Young
My heart is heavy again, writing about the spree of shootings in the Atlanta-area – all at spas. 8 people were murdered, 7 of which were women and 6 identified as Asian.
It is tragic and heartbreaking. My heart goes out to all of our AAPI staff and the AAPI community. Please keep yourself, friends and loved ones safe.
Our fight against hate cannot stop, and we know the events over the last year exist in a long lineage of violence. We have openly talked about the rise in hate crimes and extremism, and the events of this week are a stark reminder of this fragile chapter in the fight. This is the time to come together, support one another and continue to amplify voices. I know that each one of these hate crimes is exhausting, and we need to take the time to rest and recharge. There isn’t an easy answer to hate; we are in the middle of a marathon.
I am committed to stand by our sparks & honey employees as we continue to live and work as an Anti-Racist organization. sparks & honey will match donations made by employees to organizations supporting Asian communities in need. We’ve updated our Anti-Racist Resources guide with more actions for our clients, company and community to take in support of the AAPI community.
Sincerely,
Terry Young
sparks & honey CEO & Founder
With the continued rise of racially-motivated violence against Asian Americans, we compiled more anti-racist actions for you to take. Unfortunately, we don’t believe these attacks against marginalized minorities will be the last that we see, but today is the last day to ignore them.
