Disrupting Consulting
Earlier this year, a few folks from sparks & honey were interviewed about the story of s&h. We have taken excerpts from that interview and translated it into a 5 part “Story of Us.” A special thank you to Kendra Clarke, VP Data Sciences; Paul Butler, Chief Operating Officer; Camilo LaCruz, Chief Strategy Officer; Kristin Cohen, Head of Marketing and Business Development; Jared Alessandroni, Chief Technology Officer; Rob Gaige, Managing Partner Q™ and Laura Chiavonne, Managing Partner Transformation for your support and being part of the interview.
A New Model From The Ground Up
“We certainly want to achieve scale for Q™,” nodded Terry. “By the end of 2020, I’d love to be able to tell you that every agency in Omnicom is using it and realizing value. And I don’t see why it shouldn’t be rolled out to all of Omnicom’s Top 100 clients by the end of the year, too. But that doesn’t mean we are taking our eye off the ball of consulting. In fact, Q™ is at the heart of an ambitious innovation agenda we have for our consulting model.”
“A big part of our positioning moving forward,” said Camilo, “centers on disrupting consulting. We believe there will be huge advances in how consulting work is done – embracing AI both as an augmentation to humans and substitute for them, thinking differently about how we integrate with partners and clients in more open platforms for our work, and welcoming the advantages of in-housing and self-service. Work will be quicker and more integrated; we’ll see a greater democratization of knowledge; and we’ll likely see further shifts in our people and their skills.”
The consulting model is shifting and we have designed a new more modern consulting approach from the ground up.
“One thing Camilo says all the time,” picked up Terry, “is that he’d be a happy camper if we quadruple our consulting revenue and the fifty-five people here grow to just seventy-five. I agree with him completely. That would be the perfect model. And I believe what we are doing here at s&h is a lab for what can happen in the bigger organism of Omnicom.”
“Over the last 12-months, we have worked on projects guiding CEO’s on some of their most pressing challenges from M&A and innovation strategy to Covid-19 and black lives matter resets. What has been most impressive has been the way we see emerging opportunities months, sometimes years, before others,” says Kristin. “Personally, I love helping our clients design a preferred future.”
Terry is the CEO of sparks & honey. His deep understanding of consumer behavior, digital and technology platforms allowed him to architect the sparks & honey model. Before sparks & honey, Terry joined McKinsey & Co in Greater China, working to incubate new startups and Internet companies in Asia.
