Gen Z is nostalgic for Kate Bush thanks to Stranger Things

Thanks to Stranger Things, Gen Z has rediscovered 80s singer Kate Bush. The song Running Up that Hill has resurfaced to the top of recent music charts and is in heavy circulation on TikTok and Reels. Period piece dramas have resonated with younger generations, inspiring a comeback of old trends and music. In these series, viewers can travel back to different time periods and experience a sense of nostalgia for what life was like. As a result, some trends of the past resurface in the present. Not only is Gen Z embracing the culture of past generations, but they are also reinventing it to fit into their own lifestyle. For example, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has also taken a twist on 50’s rock and roll by having pop artists such as Doja Cat to remake Elvis’ hit songs.
